Numbers for a scoreboard in boxes on Star Island.
Recently, I’ve shown some images from Star Island of the New Hampshire Coast. It is one of a series of Isles of Shoals. Breakwalls have been installed between a few of the islands to make a protected area in front of Star Island, known as Gosport Harbor. The first view is of the harbor from the front porch of the Oceanic Hotel. The view below is from a small hill to the side on which thee is a gazebo where we ate out picnic lunch.
The Oceanic Hotel is the centerpiece of Star Island, one of nine Isles of Shoals about seven miles off the coast of New Hampshire. It was built in the 1800s and became a haven for artists and other creative thinkers. For the last century, it has been owned by a nonprofit organization. It is kept much the same way that it was 100 years ago. It is not a place to go and sit by the pool and sip Mai-Tais and get massages. It is used for conferences and personal retreats. Meals are served family style in a central dining room. While all the rooms have electricity, not all have outlets. Take a step back in time and enjoy.
