What’s in Bloom? – July 7, 2020

We have some more big Lilies. I hope you like Lilies, there will be more next week.

This is Marguerite. They are small. My photos are not to scale.

And finally, an update on the vegetable garden. We put up a small fence to act as a trellis because some of the beans want to climb.

What’s in Bloom? – June 30th

Our first Lily of the season.
Evening Primlsrose.

The Evening Primrose are taking a beating. We put the bird feeder on a tree branch overhead. The squirrels and chipmunks routinely feed from this feeder and will then jump down onto the flowers. Naughty little animals. Tsk, tsk.

Our main vegetable garden

Let’s not forget the vegetables. We have them in a few spots but this is the largest. My wife put down a biodegradable landscaping paper to keep the weeds down around the plants and then filled in with mulch around the borders. I took this on Friday and it’s already changed quite a bit.

Pickety Place

Pickety Place is a restaurant and shop over in Mason, NH that specializes in food and other things made and flavored with herbs. In summer, their gardens bloom, but snow brings a certain charm also.

Gardens of Marsh – Billings – Rockefeller National Historical Park

We really enjoyed the gardens at the Marsh – Billings – Rockefeller National Historical Park. Our favorite part was the sailboat sundial. Neither of us had seen anything like this before.

Nature

Some nature images from Heritage Gardens and Museum. It is still rather early in the season here. Cape Cod is surrounded by the still cold ocean water making the temps about 5-10 degrees cooler than inland. Still, there was much to see. Cheers!

Flume

Flume End

We spent yesterday visiting Heritage Gardens and Museum in Sandwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. It has beautiful gardens and museums featuring Americana. As you enter, there is a lovely flume that starts just beyond the entrance (see bottom photo) and ends in a lovely grove (see top photo). More tomorrow. Cheers.
