Boston is home to The First Church of Christ, Scientist. It is situated in a beautiful plaza in Boston’s Back Bay. Currently, it is undergoing some restoration, but I was able to pull off this image.
To my friends who wondered about last Sunday’s B/W image, it is the same dome as pictured below.
I am a bit light on images these days and decided to recycle this image of a door that I made almost two years ago. I used this on last year’s calendar and a couple of other things. It is the side door to a church on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross is situated in the SOWA neighborhood. It is the cathedral for the city and surrounding area. It was started in the late 1860’s, right after our country’s Civil War ended and dedicated in 1875.
There was some interesting light a couple of weeks ago when we went into Boston. I’ve photographed this church before but liked the muted sun behind it. It gave it a nice effect. This was made from Copley Square.
The Old Stone Church sits on the bank of the Wachusett Reservoir. To provide the city of Boston with water, dams were built and entire communities disappeared as reservoirs formed. The Old Stone Church was a part of one community. It stands but the community moved on. Today the church is part of a park and is on National Register of Historic Places.
The last couple of days, I’ve focused on some smaller subject matter, so let’s go large today. Growing up, I did not spend much time in Back Bay. That’s the reason that most of the images of Boston on this site are from areas closer to the waterfront rather than Back Bay. It was not until high school that I even saw photos of this remarkable building. I worked in Boston during my college days but was a fair distance away from here. It was not until a few years ago when I started to explore more for my blog that I saw this building and the lovely plaza adjoining it. It is a lovely building but not always easy to shoot when I show up there, either due to construction or lighting issues. I happened to catch it just right this past Monday while walking in Boston.
Note: I’ll be spending time with family the next couple of days but will catch up with all of you sometime on Sunday. Cheers!
We spotted this church as we were driving the other day. It was picturesque enough that we stopped to make a few images.
Joaquin and I took the bus into the center of San Salvador this morning to see the cathedral and a few other sites.
The light on St. Stephens Church on Hanover St in Boston was just wonderful. Using Lightroom, I was able to bring up the lighting a bit on the Strega banner and buildings to create this image.
