I posted a sunrise image of this rainbow painted gas tank last fall. That image was made from the south. Tis is a view from the north in Boston’s Dorchester section.
I do appreciate how communities have put some thought into the esthetics of those utilitarian facilities that everyone takes for granted. From those small utility boxes to the large tanks like the one in your example, the art adds another dimension to the community.
The Rainbow Swash…goodness, all the controversy over this. If Wikipedia is to be believed. I think it’s pretty cool.
There was huge controversy back in the day. Much ado about nothing.
I remember the photo from last fall. The light does make a difference!
Thanks, Liz
You’re welcome, Chris.
It would be nice if they did it with every tank, we have a lot of them in the harbour of Antwerp 🙂
Yes, those tanks can be a bit of an eyesore otherwise.
I remember this post and nice to see it from another angle! I love the creativity of making something utilitarian from bland to colorful.
Thank you, Garfield
Looks like a giant cupcake.
Maybe we should repaint it as a cupcake. Nah, it would make all the drivers on the highway hungry.

I love the painted utility boxes.
So cool!!
Thank you, Kirt
