I made this image of the USS Constitution from a vantage point along the Harborwalk in Charleston. With the security and equipment on the side where you enter to visit the ship, it’s difficult to get a good photo. I have better luck on this side.
I’d prefer if they didn’t have that one light near the bow of the ship. There were two. I positioned myself so a piling was between me and it.
There seemed to be a lot of activity on the Constitution. I believe they had a scouting troop or similar group of young people camping out overnight on her. Can you imagine?
What an unforgettable experience. Imagine the stories being told. ✨
I think the sailors are telling them ghost stories – lol.
Spending the night on board ship and learning the history would be such a thrill for a kid!
It would be a thrill for me too!
😀
Good photo. Tall ships are never easy to photograph from the quay as there is not enough distance to take a full picture and the quay cuts off part of the hull. There is always the opposite quay, when it exists and can be accessed.
Thank you. I agree that it can be tricky to get the right angle.
You got a great shot! Can you imagine camping out overnight on this ship?! I’ll be those kids wandered everywhere–I would!
Me too!
Great shot with all those lights! 🙋♂️
Thank you so much.
Nice! I would love to know the stories those scouts are going to tell after their camp out!
We plan on taking a ride on the Nettie G Howard on Lake Erie for a sunset cruise. It’s one of the last wooden schooners built in 1893.
Happy Weekend!
Oh, that schooner ride sounds great. I imagine the Navy sailors tellig the scouts ghost stories. – ha ha ha.
Although it was difficult to get a good picture of the ship, I think your photo is very successful.
By the way, great ship too !
Thank you. She is a beauty and with such a rich history.
I know how hard it is to get a good shot with those brighter lights….I would say you were very successful!! Love it!! In San Diego we had the Star Of India as a permanent museum along the bay and they encouraged schools to set up programs with them for the kids to spend the night to get a feel for what life was like. Sounds similar to what you came across with the USS Constitution!!
That sounds like a great experience for the kids.
It may have been difficult to get a good photo, but I’d say you nailed it.
Thank you so much.
