Last Sunday was our town’s annual ice fishing derby. I took a walk around the ice to take some pictures and talk to people. While i was there the fish weren’t biting. I hope their luck changed.

Wouldn’t the ice melt under those stoves?
Good question! I hadn’t thought of that.
The stove is never directly n the ice. There is some type of floor underneath with as much space as a pallet. I’m sure in the history of the sport, somebody had put a stove directly on the ice only to lose it.
I’ve never been ice fishing, so I appreciate the opportunity to experience it vicariously. (I love the dog who couldn’t stay still!)
The dog was cute. I’ve never ice fished but enjoy going out and chatting with people.
Who says winter isn’t fun? I have three brothers who enjoy fishing year around. 🐟❄️
It’s great that the weather doesn’t stop them.
They love fishing that much! 🐟
We laugh about how my husband used to get up at 4 in the morning to go fishing in the winter. But I am talking about Florida winter…so not nearly the same thing as this kind of winter! Fishermen…they are such a weird bunch. 😄
Ha ha ha – I agree.
It looks cold but not so cold as to dampen the spirits! Mind you if I’d been there I’d need some spirits to keep me warm 👍
There was a good amount of spirits out there.
Cool… in more ways than one! This past weekend I saw people ice fishing on the lake where they were kite skiing.
The kite skiing sounds interesting. Yeah, the people on the lake were very chill.
If you haven’t already check out my post on the kite skiers.
I saw the photos but for some reason don’t see how to click into it. They look impressive, though.
Hmmmm not sure what’s going on as I can click. They were a fun group and quite athletic for guys above 40 😉
Nice to get an impression of this ice fisching.
Thank you!
Got to admire folks who know how to have fun in any kind of weather!
I’ve always wanted to try ice fishing.
It is a beautiful tradition that makes winter a little more liveable.
Wonderful!
Thank you so much.
I admire people who ice fish, though I must admit when going to sportsman’s shows that some of those ice houses rival modern hotel rooms. >grin<
ONe year, a couple of guys invited me inside theirs. It was pretty spartan but with a woodstove, it must have been 80 degrees.
Oh I remember this on lake Invermere…always delightful! Have a safe and happy weekNo Chris ~ smiles ☺️💫 Hedy
Thank you, Hewdy. Smiles back.
Such a lovely experience.
