Look how heavy and tough this old railroad bridge is. It had to be to carry locomotives and their cars over the Blackwater River. The tracks are gone, replaced by boards. This is now part of the northern rail trail. It’s a 58 mile recreational trail stretching across part of New Hampshire. I’ve ridden a section of it up near Lebanon but haven’t been on other sections….yet.
Really interesting
Thank you so much.
I like it! Is the barrier at the end to prevent ATVs and such from crossing?
Thank you, Liz. Yes, that keeps wheeled ATVs out. I would guess in winter they are open for snowmobiles – the state sport!
I expect you’re right about the snowmobiles!
It looks absolutely stunning, my friend! Thank you for sharing! Stay safe! π
Thank you so much, Mickey. You also.
Want to hear something weird… we just went to a railroad bridge two days ago.
Great shot!
Oh really. Have you posted the shots yet? I haven’t seen them and would love to.
Not yet… but I will!
so good ππ
Thank you so much.

Those old rail trails can lead to some interesting adventures. Bring your camera on those rides. I’m sure it will be worth the extra weight.
I was doing iPhone photos when I did some trails earlier this summer. I hope to ride a few in September and October.
“…yet.” I like that. Looking forward to photos from when you do.
Thanks, Lois…Me too.
Amazing history. Keep it coming. πΏπ±π
Will do.
It looks stunning, and I love the history!
Thank you.
Really enjoying all your bridges. They seem to have a story to tell us.
Thank you. They all have some story. Some have fascinating stories.
What a beautiful shot Chris! Blackwater River is an awesome name that really paints a picture. I hope youβre doing well as we head into Friday! π
Thanks Sandra. That is a cool name for a river. Things are good here. I hope itβs the same for you. The weekend is getting close.
The things this structure has seen. Glad they gave it new life instead of just demolishing it.
I know. Can you imagine the things it has witnessed and endured. Great comment. Thank you.
If only they can speak!
you always find the stories behind the places you photograph, so awesome π
love the photo, that vanishing point is so intriguing π
Thank you, Alex. Iβm fortunate that there is information out there about these bridges and their histories. Yes, I like the vanishing point in this image also. Happy weekend.
Very nice shot, Chris! I like the diagonal strips of the boards counteracting the parallel ones of the walls. π
Really good!!
Thank you so much. Have a great day.
My pleasure! Thank you for checking out my posts! Your feedback means a lot to me!!ππ
