When I visited the USS Constitution last summer, it was on a very crowded day. It was a challenge to get good photos on board with all of the people. Instead, I focused on details like this image of the bowsprit. That is the part that projects out from the front of a ship. I liked the symmetry of the image and how the eye moves around to take in different parts of the scene.
Good image!
Thank’s Liz.
Great point of view!
Gracias.
This is a good reminder for me when I am in a crowded situation–focus on the details. Great shot and great advice, Chris. Thank you!
Thank you, lois. It can be tricky sometimes. I’ve gone on the ship twice off season and the crowds are much less but some of the nicer aspects of the ship have weather covers over them. I was planning to go to their Easter Service onboard but you know how that goes these days.
Very cool!
I absolutely love the angle, nice shot, Chris!!
Nice details you captured here!
Thank you. I have a few shots like this. The ship is full of interesting shapes.
For the same reason, that’s exactly the tack I had to take when I took photographs of the USS Constellation in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
Sometimes, it’s the best we can do. I wanted to go to their Easter Sunday service this weekend onboard the ship but that’s not happening.
The eye does exactly as you’ve described, Chris! A wonderful shot, and even more so knowing that you did with a crowd in your back!
