Thank you, Sandra. The area where I went hiking early last Saturday has a garden at its headquarters. The garden is still very much asleep, but this astrolabe was in the center as an ornament. While this is decorative, I read that astrolabes were used to calculate the angle of celestial bodies for astronomy and navigation. I think they have an intriguing look and moved around it until it was in silhouette. Have a great day.
Beautiful job photographing an interesting subject! That’s exactly what I was wondering if it was functional or decorative after I googled it. Nice find Chris!
Thank you. It really is a cool ornament for a garden. Maybe I can convince my wife we need one in ours. π

looks so intriguing, I had to google astrolabe, it’s so cool you know it has a specific name π well, at least we know where your journey took you and it was to this lovely garden π love the light and colors in the background…
I love the contrasting colors in this one.
Thank you, Liz. Have a great day. The rain has finally stopped again.
Thanks, Chris. My husband and I took advantage of the sunny day and went out for a drive.
Awesome. That sounds great. We got out for a little bit also. It feels good, doesnβt it?
Yes, it does! I even enjoyed walking across the squelchy ground to get the photos I wanted.
Yeah, I had a similar experience yesterday.

This photo and your question make for a good writing prompt.
Have a good weekend.
Hmmm…I’ll have to see what you’re up to on your blog then.
I love the way you framed this interesting artifact! The lighting is beautiful too. Backstory please.

Thank you, Alex. I moved around it for a good five minutes working on the best angle. They are great looking objects.
I love things like that! Astrolabs are so interesting and decorative at the same time!
They are pretty cool. I should look for one at markets this summer. Maybe I can put one in the garden.
Not very far for the moment. LOL
Agreed!
