These gentlemen poured the molten iron into molds at last year’s iron melt at Andres Institute of Art in Brookline, NH. It takes some impressive gear to protect you hile working with pourable iron.
Wonderful photo of these workers and their protective clothes
Reminds me how we often miss the behind the scenes stuff to so many things – like maybe buildings with the iron parts that were crafted and poured by real hands —
So may if your photos are these humanity shots 😉
Great shot, Chris! And very impressive gear indeed! Are you planning on visiting again?
Thanks Sarah. I’d like to. It depends when it’s scheduled. A chance to work on my mold carving skills 🙈
It would take some pretty steady hands, too!
And strong. Liquid iron is just as heavy as solid.
That title had me thinking something entirely different 🙂 That’s some dangerous work there!
Yes, the person in charge said that if you are wondering if you’re too close, you’ll know when you get burned.
Ouchies!
They look like they enjoy the work.
They certainly did. They were all learning the craft.
Cool picture, Chris! I didn’t know that liquid iron is as heavy as solid! That’s quite a hobby. Interesting!
Thanks, Sandra. Yeah, I give these guys who are learning to do this a lot of credit. Have a good night.
impressive! were you able to give it a try too? was it some kind of craft demonstration event?
We carved molds and these iron men melted down scrap iron and pouted it into them. It was impressive.

Side note – I know they were learning to do
It – but it made me appreciate those who do
It for their career
Thank you so much. It’s important to see the human moments.
