The local airport is hosting a collection of WW-II era planes this weekend. The word was that they would land between 1:30 and 2:00 yesterday afternoon. I headed over to the airport and parked at the end of the runway waiting for them to land. I clicked a few shots of modern private planes landing and from the results was sure I’d get some great images of the antique planes in flight. Instead, the wind changed direction just before they landed and I was at the wrong end of the field. I made this image of a fighter when it reached the end of the runway to turn around.
Reminds me of the movie Air America!๐๐พ
I havenโt seen that one. Iโll check it out. I just watch an old movie called A Bridge Too Far. They had a great scene of scores of old planes with soldiers parachuting from them. Cheers.
Now I have something else to look forward to watching. ๐
The plane still makes for a great photo, even on the ground.
Thank you. I just went back to make some photos. The shots I want remain elusive, but I got some other good material.
That’s good!
Gotta love those teeth!
I do. I went to the airport today and got a close up of those choppers!
Might have been the wrong end, but you got the right photo, Chris. Imagine seeing this in the air?! Goosebumps!
Good one. Thank you, Lois.
I am green with envy, thank you for sharing. love vintage planes.
I went back today and plan to shoot again tomorrow. They are a lot of fun.
enjoy!
Will do! ๐
Chris I linked to you in my blog today, want to make sure others in my “set” get to see your beauties.
Oh, thank you so much. Cheers
I have a photographer friend who loves to photograph and documents air craft…always so many layers of stories…I like the green tones as well…happy day to you Chris ๐๐ค๐ซ
I can see the attraction to photographing aircraft. Iโm having fun going over when they are taking off and landing. Thank you. Cheers
Glad it turned around so you could get this great photo
That’s a wonderful shot!
I do love old planes ๐
Ciao
Sid
Thank you Sid. I feel the same way. Cheers
Isn’t it fantastic to see these planes still in flight?! I am in awe of what they must have gone through and are still around today!
Thank you GP. Iโm also amazed and so appreciative of the people who keep them running. Iโm glad they share them with us. Cheers

Real classic
That it is. Thank you for your comment. Cheers
Love it. We recently had a B-17 four-engine bomber from World War II visit our city over the weekend. I got some images when it was on the ground. Still extraordinary. ๐๐๐
They had one of those as well. They are great to see. Thank you and cheers!
Great shot of a classic!
Thanks, Teri.
Ah, that’s too bad that the wind changed and forced the pilots to land from the other end of the runway. But you you got this fantastic plane and shot anyway. I’m really amazed that the planes are still flying!!
Thanks, Sarah. I managed to get the images I was looking for later in the weekend. It is wonderful that they keep these planes flying. Cheers!
Looking forward to see them!! Cheers!
Next week, unless you check the sidebar in my blog and click to Flickr
I always find them so fascinating! Perfection!
It was pretty amazing to see. . Cheers!
It is something! Great photo! ๐
Thank you so much. Cheers!
Beautiful. A cousin of ours flew one of those with Chennault’s Flying Tigers in WWII. He’s still alive and kicking at 105. Thanks for the image.
Thatโs remarkable. Iโm glad you enjoyed the photos. Thank you and cheers!
Bon week-end.
