You might ask: What kind of skylight is this? It is a skylight on a 18th century ship. A friend and I visited the USS Constitution. Build for the US Navy in 1798, it is still a commissioned naval vessel manned by U.S. Navy sailors. It recently underwent a restoration so details, like this skylight are just gleaming.
Gleaming is the word. This is beautiful, Chris.
Thank you. This detail came out especially nice. Have a good weekend. Cheers
You found the beginnings of an architectural atrium haha
I’m always thrilled to see and hear about a piece of history being restored and/or maintained!! It shows a sense of pride and respect.
I agree. Another cool thing while we were there is that it was Chief Week. Chiefs from all over the Navy came to train on traditional naval skills.
Fantastic!! By coincidence, I just saw a short clip showing the carrier display!

Great shot. They had some good video of the activities on the Constitution but it’s all FB based and I can’t just find a link.
This is beautiful. I like old ships.
Thatnk yuo. Yes, it wonderful that some have been maintained for us to enjoy.
That is a classy skylight!
I agree. It was a practical way to add light and doesn’t take up a lot of space on deck. Cheers
Good to see how well the restoration turned out. When our daughter and son-in-law last came to NH to visit from CA, my husband had wanted to take them to see the Constitution, but it was in dry dock. She’s all ready for their next visit!
It is absolutely beautiful. I hope they can visit sometime soon. Cheers
🙂
Great image Chris.. Old Historical things are always unique and elegant.
Thank you. The ship certainly looks elegant. Cheer!
Shining like a beacon! Such a beautiful skylight. 😄
It was definitely photoworthy. Cheers!
I’m glad I got to see this, thanks!
Thank you so much, Cheers!
