Stickwork is the newest art installation by Patrick Dougherty. We were fortunate enough to visit Highfield Hall and Gardens in Falmouth, MA yesterday as they were putting the finishing touches on this project. It is huge. There is a person on the left side of the frame that gives you an idea of the scale of the project. Luckily, we arrived just before noon and the workers putting down mulch took a lunch break allowing us to make some images. It will be on the grounds for the next two years if you decide to take a vacation to Cape Cod.
It will withstand the weather for two years?
Thatโs what they said. And then after two years it starts to breakdown. Iโd love to volunteer in the building of one of these.
I have only seen his work once but these structures are more elaborate than the ones I saw in DC. Magnificent!
Yes! I saw one he did in Salem, NH. The size of the space he had to work with was smaller and so was the sculpture. Cheers
Really intense and tight woven. Nice find๐๐๐
It was rather intense. It would be interesting to volunteer to help construct one.
I saw one of these exhibits in Massachusetts on the grounds of a museum a couple of years ago, but I can’t remember which one. When I went inside, I was thinking it was lucky I hadn’t seen it when I was a kid; I would have pestered my brother unmercifully to build me one!
We saw one at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem a couple of years ago. Perhaps it was that one. I kind of still want one. Cheers
I think it was at the PEM, now that you mention it!
Amazing! Reminds me of Stonehenge somehow.
Isnโt it great. Another friend of mine thought it looked like Stonehenge also. Cheers
That’s impressive!
Yes. I’d love to volunteer to help make one of these.
Amazing work of sticking to it ๐ Really is fascinating!
I’d really love to volunteer to help make ne of these. Most museums do use volunteer labor. I’ll stick it on my bucket list. Pun intended.
Good one! Good one!
Thanks, Teri. Cheers!
Wow..so creative!!
Isn’t it amazing?
Of course..๐
So beautiful! I think J.R.R. Tolkien would have loved it! It looks like something out of Middle Earth to me. ๐
