These neon signs appeared in a greenway in Boston last summer. They are from mostly defunct businesses and are the property of a collector who has loaned (?) them to the city. I think Stateline Potato Chips is still in business. I think I remember The Flying Yankee Restaurant. My father and uncle used to go for pizza at the European.
I have never heard of a collector of neon signs, but it is a good idea, and displaying them is even better.
I hadn’t heard of it either but why not? I’m glad someone saved them and that they are not just sitting in the person’s garage or basement but are out for people to enjoy. Cheers!
I just learnt recently that our building code disallows neon signs. Why? Perhaps because wr are
Sorry have not finished…perhaps wr are so tiny an island state that neon signs make us look gawdy and cheapen us looking like a giant Suzy bar?
Many places here don’t allow neon signs. Let’s face it, they don’t look good in all locations. Cheers!
True that!!
Thank goodness our local Krispy Kreme still flashes the neon sign: ‘Hot Donuts Now.’
My favorite sign!
We stopped by there this afternoon. Talk about a sugar high….whew!
We got to see these last fall when we were in Boston. It is a very well done display. Note that these are NOT simple window neon signs. These are the size to go on top of a building.
Excellent point, Nick. These are big neon signs, not little, mass produced ones. I’m glad you got to see them. Cheers!
I haven’t seen any outdoor neon signs for business except some small ones on their windows.
I think this is an older thing. People don’t seem to do it much anymore.
Yes, I think so. My husband got a couple collections in the garage.
These look wonderful, Chris! I feel somewhat drawn to the Pizzeria sign – must be my empty stomach! LOL! 😉
Thanks Sarah. I enjoy seeing these old signs. Cheers!
We all seem to agree that they don’t use/make neon signs like they used to! Thanks for sharing these.
My pleasure. It’s great to see these old signs up for people to enjoy. Cheers!
Wow..so pretty Chris!
Thank you, Sohair. I have two students from Egypt in my class now!
They are lucky to have you as their teacher…I hope they are nice students..cheers!
They are nice. They participate in class a lot. Cheers
