Bunker Hill Monument – Night Images

The Bunker Hill Monument is a 221-foot (67 m) granite obelisk on a hill in Boston. I went to shoot it a night. The first image (below) is nice with the stark monument against a blue-hour sky. It’s kind of minimalist. I noticed the statue of William Prescott at the base of it and wondered if I could use it to make a more interesting image. I set my tripod us low, really low, and mad the top image. I like it better. It has a different feel to it and just has more happening. It’s just a different way to see it.

That’s an awesome shot, Chris! The statue does lend it a different, and in my eyes, better kind of feeling. It tells a story where the first shot doesn’t so much. And the dramatic angle adds to it very nicely. Cheers!
