For well over a decade, Hampton Beach in New Hampshire has hosted a sand sculpture contest. This year’s contest included ten artists and 200 tons of sand trucked in for the event. While we watched, the artists finished their labors of love and hoped to win a prize of up to $3,000. They completed these works in under 23 hours time on the beach, though many had sketchbooks lying about that showed designs they made back home. Their vision and skill are just amazing. Most of them work in other mediums (e.g. ice, snow) as well as sand. After today, the sculptures will be sprayed with a glue type of substance and remain up for a few weeks.
So beautiful and intricately detailed work.
It is and it was so interesting to see them work with little sculpting tools and brushes to add the finishing touches. Cheers
Wow, beautifully done. Class !!!
They did great work on these. Thanks for the comment. Cheers
May I help you.
Best regards 🙂
So pretty sculptures especially
Especially the last one..
Thanks for sharing Chris ..
My pleasure, Sohair. I’m glad you like them. These artists are just great. Cheers
They are amazing. Thanks for sharing them.
My pleasure. The artists did a great job. Cheers
Amazing stuff!!
These artists do a great job. Cheers
Incroyable! I saw this on the news and in fact it turns out my stepson was up there. It’s just unbelievable how talented the artists are. I’m glad the sculptures get to survive for a goodly while and don’t just get washed away 😊
I’m glad also. From the traffic and crowd, I think half of New England was there yesterday. Cheers
Wow! Some amazing skills there.
Ciao, buona settimana 🙂
Grazie 😊
Unbelievable. Would have loved to see this! Everything happens in June.
It is amazing to see. That’s so true. Everything does happen in June. Cheers
We didn’t get a chance to go see them this year so thanks for sharing. They are amazing artists.
I have never seen beach scultures in person. So, having you there to capture them was very special, Chris! 🌞
I’m glad you could enjoy them. I’ve seen them a few times. You’d think all of these sculptors are from the coast but many are from the Mid-West. There may have even been one from Ohio. FYI, they don’t sculpt with beach sand. They use inland sand that likely has more clay and will hold together better. Cheers!
wonderful colours of the sand and soft blues too Chris…sand and water can be an arty experience…these are stellar sculptures ☀️🤗 have a great day Chris ~ smiles hedy 😁
Thank you, Hedy. These artists do incredible work. It is a great atmosphere with people flocking to the coast to see these artists and their work. Cheers
Ohhh… that’s something superb! Astonishing ❤
Cheers!
Sid
Thank you, Sid. Cheers
😀
I am so amazed of this incredible art done at the beach. The details!
We saw a gentleman in San Diego who makes a new one everyday.
Love going to this event too.
It’s great. We went on Saturday just as the artists were finishing. Cheers!
Last year we went to the one on Revere Beach. I believe that is in July. It was awesome to see sand artists from around the world come to take part. Wish my photos of the sand sculptures were as good as yours 🙂
Oh, thank you. I saw there is one at Revere Beach. Maybe we will venture down to check it out. Cheers!
Amazing art! It’s good these creations are sprayed with glue so they can last for more than a day.
Aren’t they great. I can’t imagine putting such effort into something that is so temporary. Cheers
Oh, I love sand sculpture contest! It´s so amazing what these artists can do, in a medium as delicate as sand. And to think that after a few weeks it´s all going to be destroyed… I couldn’t bare that with my creations. 😉 Love the second shot!
Thanks, Sarah. I feel the same way about the fleeting nature of sand sculptures. I hestitate to make snowmen if the weather will be too warm in the coming days.
Even though it’s only a few miles from us, I didn’t make the trip over to see the sculptures. Thank you for taking me there in great photographs!
My pleasure. You certainly would have been fighting the crowd to get there. Cheers
Parking is next to impossible!
We almost did not get a spot. We finally found one for $20 but saw prices up to $50
