I joined this group of hikers from the Appalachian Mountain Club on a snowshoe hike of Mount Cube in the White Mountains. It was not a long hike, but recent snow made the trail very difficult to climb because we were the first hikers on it. Packing down all of that powder was a bit of effort, but we had a good time. It took us about six hours to go four miles round trip.
Wow! That’s serious hiking!
It ‘twas. I felt like a bit of an amateur. Some people had serious gear.
Like? I mean it all looked pretty serious to me.
rampons, ice axes, avalanche beacons…No, I’m messing with you. It was just higher end versions of the basic gear. Most people had neoprene insulated water bottle…My water bottle was in a wool sock LMAO
And I see nothing wrong with a wooly sock water bottle. Please tell me it was argyle or something cool like that? hahahah
OMG…That would have been awesome, like flaunting it. It was a black fleece. Next winter – argyle!
WOOT! Than again hopefully next time it won’t be cold 😉
Too cold outside for me! But thst
Sorry! This night I am struggling with my auto-correct 😛
But that hike must have been a wonderful experience!
Cheers
Sid
It was the agony and the ecstasy.
😀
Impressive and they all look serious to me!
Wow! Looks like an arctic expedition to me! Where there any polar bears to be seen? 😉
No polar bears….but there could have been. 🙃
Was it better (easier) to be in front or in the back?
It was easier in back but when breaking the trail we rotated. We would do thirty or so steps at the front and then step aside and go to the back. Eventually we would get to the front again.
It must had been a fun filled and satisfying hike.
It was, thank you. Cheers
