My friend James and I went hiking up in the White Mountains last weekend. The area has some of the worst weather in the world. The trailhead to get to Mount Willard is behind the Crawford Depot. The depot was built in 1891 and a scenic train service still stops there in the warmer months. The worst weather on our hike was between the parking lot and the trailhead. There was a lot of wind and blowing snow. Tomorrow, I’ll show you the trail.
That’s a fabulous image – capturing not just the snow but the biting air and wind too …. can’t wait for the trail shots!
Thank you. It was miserably windy and cold there. We almost turned back. It’s so odd. Outside of the notch, it’s all sunny and nice. The White Mountains have their own weather. Cheers
Being a frustrated weather girl, this is probably why I love them …. that and the fact that they are mountains ⛰
I echo Osyth’s words.. lovely
Thank you so much. Have a great weekend. Cheers
Looks like it was an interesting hike 🙂
It was fun. The view at the top was amazing.
I always enjoy seeing how you choose scenes to photograph and create such wonderful pages out of a book, in my eyes! Thanks for the views of the mountain and snow, Chris.
Thank you. These mountains are only two hours from our home but are so different from where we live. I wish they were closer so that I could capture them more often. Cheers!
Wonderful shot, Chris! I can feel the cold and icy wind on my cheeks looking at it! Cheers! 😊❄
Thanks Sarah. It was a bitter cold. Cheers!
Hope you weren’t frostbitten!
It was nasty at the base but I ended up taking off layers on the hike up. I still have all my fingers and toes.
The scene is fantastic though the weather is bad…
Great one Chris !
thank you, Sohair. The weather out on the open ground was bad but once we were in the forest, it was fine. You’d probably think it was a bit chilly but the c,limbing kept us warm. Cheers!
