Rail Explorers

Last week, we went with friends to Rail Explorers in Portsmouth Rhode Island. They give you the opportunity to pedal quadricycles along closed rail tracks. They have locations in three states. Rhode Island is the closest and also offers ocean views along part of the trail. After three miles, you stop and get out for a break. While you do, the staff uses a hydraulic turntable to turn the quadricycles around for your journey back. Of course, the tracks were all decorated for Halloween.

What a lovely place to visit with quadcycles…really quaint and nice touch for Halloween. It is novel indeed for the owner of the place to find new uses for a disused rail track. Lovely share. Thanks!

Thanks Garfield. They really can’t use these tracks any longer. They are on an island and the rail bridge that connected to the mainland was destroyed when a boat hit it some years ago. They are only used for this and a dinner train. Cheers!

What fun! I would do this as Husband and I love to take old trains. Have never seen one like this. Really cute that some areas were decorated for Halloween. Thanks for taking us along. TGIF to you!
