While this looks like it may have been created by Dr. Suess, it was actually designed by architect Frank Gehry. It is the Strata Center at MIT. I’d never heard of it or seen it until six months ago. Just after Christmas, a friend and I saw a slide show of Boston sites and there were images of the Strata Center included. We knew we had to find it.

Beautiful π
Thanks, Monica. It is so wild looking. Cheers π
Yes, it is, Chris π
Wow! Major wow!
I know, right? Just amazing. Cheers
When I first looked at it, I thought this was some 3D graffiti you had captured. Yikes! This is pretty darn amazing.
Isn’t it awesome what they did? Thanks, Lois. Cheers!
What a unique building! Very interesting to read about the type of work done there and the personalities that designed it and those who now work within.
It is definitely unique. Thank you. Cheers
Reblogged this on Le Bien-Etre au bout des Doigts.
Thank you so much. Cheers
Had not seen these but they are similar to the Disney Hall in LA that Gehry designed. But with the colors these are surreal.
The colors do make this. We shot just after dark to make the colors stand out. Cheers!
Gorgeous colors! And you are right…as if from Dr SeussβΊ
Thank yhou, Garfield. We purposely waited until after dark to make these so that the colors would POP!
POP they did and I loved it! The colors are just gorgeous! Thanks again for a wonderful shareβΊ
My pleasure. Cheers
Fabulous architecture by a brilliant architect but, yikes, I don’t think I could live in one of his buildings. You picked the perfect time of the evening to highlight the colors and details. Good work…
Oh, thank you. I’ve no idea if this motif continues on the interior of not. The exterior is absolutely stunning. Cheers
That is so cool! I love that it’s stretching architectural boundaries π
Me too. They did an amazing and creative job with this. Cheers
Totally! Happy Sunday, Chris
Happy Sunday, well almost Monday now. Have a good week.
Thank you and wishing the same for you π
DH and I walked past it on our tour de MIT and we wear rings designed by him. Very cool isn’t it and great shots you took.
Thanks. We had a challenging time finding angles that worked well, but I was pleased with the result. Cheers
Love Gehry! When deciding what subject to choose for my master thesis, it was a close run between him and Foster (the latter made it π). When I saw your picture first, I thought you were in Prague! There’s a very similar building by him. π
Wow !! This really looks kind of photo-shopped !
I know. I couldn’t believe when I first saw photos either. Come visit and I will show you for real. π
I’d love the see it for real ! Stunning clicks, Chis. Defies gravity !
Most is always a cutting edge institute of learning!! ππ
most = MIT oops
I have a plan to start stalking Gehry buildings around the world after seeing two of his buildings in Spain!
This is definitely an interesting one. I’d like to see more of them.
So cool, I love Boston! I lived there most of my life…
Thank you for the nod on my post…I have just started this blog a few weeks ago…
Thank you. Yeah, I live in Southern NH now but am from Boston and spend a lot of time there. You have a nice blog. Best of luck with it. Cheers
