Winter is still here so why not make the most of it. With almost a foot and a half of new snow, I strapped on some snowshoes and hit the Rocky Ridge Trail. It’s the most challenging of the local trails, especially when wearing snowshoes. BTW, the rock to the left is part of one huge boulder, likely dropped here by the last glacier to visit this area.
there’s something so beautiful about this… ๐ where is it?
Thank you. It is in Hollis New Hampshire at Beaver Brook. Cheers
Bravo! Great way to stay in shape while enjoying the great outdoors.
Thank you – They say if you can walk, then you can snowshoe. Yes, that is true but it is effortful.
Not true… at least in my case. I only went once and found it awkward. I should try again.
Good for you – impressive! We are having spring break weather here as I jog in my shorts. One must enjoy the weather and nature where you are. Cheers for the weekend!
Shorts….Brrrrrr. No shorts being worn outside here. I hope that you enjoy your break. Thank you and Cheers!
White snow and green St. Patrick’s Day: it fits well, cheers the beer glasses ๐
Hip Hip Hurrah!
Sid
Thank you, Sid. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Cheers!
Isn’t it crazy?
It is. ๐
Okay, I fall more often in snowshoes than when not wearing them…but much less than if I had on skates or skis. ๐
Have to watch out for those glaciers, they sneak right up on you ๐
Yeah! And dump one of these ginormous rocks on your head.
Ouchie!
I donยดt envy you your snow! I did in January and February but not anymore ๐ But itยดs definitely a good idea to use it for practicing walking with your snowshoes – I canยดt even imagine how difficult it must be – I bet Jack Reacher doesnยดt do this a lot so youยดre ahead of him in this! ๐
I don’t think Jack Reacher is really a snowshoe kind of guy. We really thought the snow was behind us and this was a bit of a surprise. I’m hoping for a snowy photo shoot tomorrow and am then hoping for it all to melt rather quickly. I hope all is well with you. Cheers!
Hope you’ll have a great shoot! Look very much forward to see the pictures! Cheers! ๐
Thank you. We may get a bit of snow overnight to freshen things up a bit. Cheers!
Sounds like a great walk….I’ve never snow shoed…not yet!
If you can walk you can snowshoe. That was actually a challenging trail to do because it has a lot of ups and downs and some tight spots. ๐ค
hahaha i would tell students if you can print your name…you can draw ๐ i will try one day!
And perhaps I will try to draw. ๐
I have never snow shoes, but cross country skis have been something I have tried a couple of times. Chris, I love how glacial rocks have such character displayed in colors and depth. Of course, cross country skiing is more for straight and flat paths. So glad you were able to get out and see the beauty. . . then shared it with us!
Aw, thank you. This is not a trail for cross country skis, but other trails nearby are suitable for it. Those glaciers were hugs and amazing.
The glaciers were amazing and their receding created glacier grooves. Not sure if there are some confused people who deny glaciers like they say climate warming and dinosaurs didn’t exist. I like those sedimentary rocks with ancient footprints in them. Hope your week goes nicely!
Yes, those rocks with footprints in them are very cool. The power of the glaciers to move rocks of this size is just amazing.
This is always mind boggling to me and others, of course.
I tried to say I never “snow shoed” but not sure if I should have said I haven’t been on snow shoes(?) Anyway, editor of spelling changed my word to snow shoes which isn’t an action word at all. ๐
Ha ha ha…some of my English classes would enjoy debating that one for a while. I think “never been on snow shoes” would work. I have seen it used as a verb.
Laughing with you while I struggle figuring out why I didn’t just use your example in the first place (!?) ๐
Oh, because language has all sorts of oddities to it. But your image sense of what sounds right and what sounds questionable seems to be working. ๐
