This was made just after Christmas. The tourists are long gone and much of it was boarded up. A few hotels were renovating. It reminded me of the line from Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen….”Everything dies, baby, that’s a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back”. The crowds will be back and the Ferris wheel will spin again.
Springsteen wrote and sang it, but I prefer the version by The Band.
Nice, I like that you have edited these in black and white.
It seemed fitting with the season. Thank you so much for your comment. Cheers!
and you didn’t get in? π
great shots and such an interesting location!! would love to see the Carousels in color too π
Thank you, Alex. I need to go back in summer to get the carousel. No summer here, today. We got 40cm of snow yesterday. Cheers
wow, 40 cm is serious business… am lookin forward to snowy pics on your blogs in the coming days then π
I am hoping I can get out with my camera. Classes are keeping me busy.
Nice in B&W. I was there once, c. 1960!
Thank you…I had not been there since 1991. Cheers!
I feel the first shot (and a very good one too) pretty much sums it all up. Much different than when I was there when it was still warm and tons of tourists.
Thank you Teri. I like shooting places like this off season. It was close to 60 on this day.
Kind of like the feeling of a deserted Amusement Park… makes definitely for great shots! And I also think the b/w fits it so good because it is deserted and not brimming with people. With people I would definitely go with colors. Cheers!
Thank you Sarah. I thought BW was the way to go. I need to go back in the summer to show a different side of it. Have a great day. Cheers
I look forward to the summer shoots then! Cheers! π
Me too. We got buried in snow yesterday. π³
Oh no! Hope the barista is well?
Up to his knees in snow….Yup. π³
Poor guy! Maybe you should make him some snowshoes so he can get away if he wants to? π
What about me….I want to get away to a much warmer climate!!!!
Haha! π Well in that case you’ll have to make two more pairs of snowshoes so your wife can flee winter’s grip too! π
Yes! We used to take a winter get away but have not the past two years. It’s actually kind of pretty, just not convenient. Sometimes, we need reminders, though, that life is not always convenient. Cheers!
Pretty but not convenient… sounds like a good sum up for many things in life π Cheers!
It does. We have another 30 cm or so coming today into tomorrow. It will teach me patience, my dear friend.
I’ve heard about the heavy snowfall in your area even on the news. Poor you! Maybe your wife can teach you knitting? It might not seem manly at first glance (well, maybe not even at second or third, and I’m sure Jack Reacher would never do it) but there are quite a lot of men who knit. It keeps your hands busy and warms you afterwards.
Nope. If Jack won’t do it than neither will I. I shall live by the words: What would Jack do?”π
But who knows what Jack does when he’s not starring in one of Mr Child’s novels?! I bet there are not many things he wouldn’t dare to try out, even knitting π Or maybe especially knitting since it involves pointy objects π There’s a series called “Lillihammer” where someone got killed by those nasty objects!
My wife and I often discuss if she will get her knitting needles through security at various places. She can bring them on planes. I’m not sure they would have let them in when we saw Michelle Obama.
That retro vintage black and white style in your photo is fascinating!
Great shots!
Ciao
Sid
Thank you. I thought it would be interesting to shoot here and am glad I stopped by. Cheers
Beautiful b&w. Amusement park in winter is a good storyteller π
Thank you…It is so interesting to see behind the scenes, when places are closed. Cheers!
Yes, no distraction π
black and white works so well…and lovely song…
‘blew up the chicken man last night’…
Oh, everything dies, baby, that’s a fact
But maybe everything that dies some day comes back”….
smiles appreciated…have a productive week Chris π
Isn’t that a great song. My day was productive; we cleared 30cm of snow from the roof and driveway. But it was not freezing and felt good to be outside. No classes tonight. π
Happy week, Hedy. Have fun.
The snow in Boston looks so amazing… so fluffy and pretty… we don’t have the moisture to make those beautiful flakes… i’m off to cowtown this week…βΊπ
Have fun in cowtown. Make some pretty images. π
These were special black and white pictures, Chris! What a great idea to do them and seem so old fashioned this way.
Although not famous across the country, I worked 1974 and 1976 at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. I loved my second year experience where I didn’t have to stay in hot dormitory! I was the opener in the nicer coffee shop in the Hotel Breakers. When the nights came, everyone had left except sleepy employees stumbling home to shower and go to a dance, movie on the beach or be a guest on a party boat. Thanks for inspiring some wonderful memories! π
It sounds like a great summer. Those were such carefree days. Cheers
Amazing!!
Thank you, Hannah. Cheers
