That’s a nice composition and use of light. When was the photo taken? Looks like it’s night ? I ask since I’ve never known the library to be open at night?
I have a bit of an attachment to the building as I wrote a paper on both the McKim, Mead & White designed older section and the Philip Johnson newer section way back in my college days. I should visit it again, it’s been years since I’ve been there.
oh, gosh, I love this image!! β₯ such a beatufiul atmosphere created by the lights…
did you use a prime lens for this one?
hope you are having a nice off-school weekend, Chris π
Awesome picture, Chris! And I love the reading lampΒ΄s green shade. I think I fall more an more in love with this beautiful library (but then, IΒ΄m in love with libraries on principle π But this one is especially marvelous! Cheers!
I believe the Staatsbibliothek is still being renovated, it seems to take years. Before it wasn’t really nice though, more functional than beautiful but at least quiet π. But there are many smaller libraries around that I quite like but nothing as beautiful as yours.
Thank you, Hedy. My books and I spend hours together. I am actually reading one for fun and not an assignment. It is about climbing Mt Ararat in Turkey. Interesting but not an easy climb. Cheers!
I never would have thought library – but now I “see” it –
it almost had a pub vibe.
Interesting take. I can see that. The lighting could go with either setting.
we have one small green table lamp in our guest room – and the green is really so nice for evening reading….
Beautiful – the green just pops. π
Thank you. I find myself wanting one of these lamps. Cheers

Thank you. It was evening. The library is open until 9 Monday to Thursday.
It looks like a beautiful and serene place to read
It is so quiet in there. Really a great space. Cheers
I’m remembering my college days many years ago at nearby Northeastern U, when the library would close at 5:00pm. It’s nice that it’s open later now.
They have remodeled the new section in the past few years. It’s very nice.
I didn’t know about the remodeling. There’s an article about it in today’s Boston Globe.
Ah, if I get a chance I’ll check it out.
Good article. I agree that it is dynamic.

It’s an impressive redo of the Johnson section. I keep meaning to go in for their history and architecture tour.
Interesting angle, Chris. I love this shot π
Oh, thank you Monica. I drove in special one night to make photos there. Cheers π
It was a special night π
Yes. A bunch of friends came in with me. It was Christmas time and they had not seen Bostons Christmas lights before. π
Nice shot! Walked past it a lot but never went in.
Thank you. I know; why visit a library. But the older building is a gem.
I. Love. Boston. πΏ
It has some nice spots. Thank you and cheers!
Cheers, indeed! π

Libraries are a good thing. It’s nice to see them be a place of peace and beauty also. How is the central library in Berlin?
I believe the Staatsbibliothek is still being renovated, it seems to take years. Before it wasn’t really nice though, more functional than beautiful but at least quiet π. But there are many smaller libraries around that I quite like but nothing as beautiful as yours.
You have many wonderful buildings in your city. I’d love to return someday.
That would be great! We could go on a photography trip together and drink buckets of coffee! Cheers!
Coffee and photos – Two of my favorite things π
Same here π
How unique ..
It is. They have many of them at the library but outside of there you don’t see them often. Cheers
Cheers π»..
So many beautiful and interesting places out there
That there are. Lucky us!
BPL is awesome. You must of found the perfect time to be there. So ambient/peaceful and not busy (which it is usually a busy space)!
Thank you. It was rather quiet in a Thursday evening close to Christmas. I really like the McKim building. Cheers
and i love libraries too…and green…love the many many…enjoy your books Chris ~ smiles from Alberta!
