The Old Stone Church sits on the bank of the Wachusett Reservoir. To provide the city of Boston with water, dams were built and entire communities disappeared as reservoirs formed. The Old Stone Church was a part of one community. It stands but the community moved on. Today the church is part of a park and is on National Register of Historic Places.
Does the church still hold service or is it just a site to stop by and view as part of the historic park? Nice if it did.
I don’t think they have services there on a regular basis but would imagine some people hire it for weddings and church groups might use it for a special service. The interior is empty and there are no windows or doors.
Beautiful! Would love to go inside and take a look around and check out the park too. The color of the sky is amazing!!! π π π
It looks wonderful, Chris. And the scenery is amazing. Great capture π
Cheers!
For all the world an English church … Delightful
Or in the case, New English…Said the guy who will teach foreigners to speak. Sigh!
For a hot moment I thought…when did they go to England! Very nice.
I wish…Nope, just an early morning drive. Thank you, Teri…Cheers!
A early morning find π
I love morning shoots.
This church building is one that lasted through quite an unusual circumstance; this makes it extra special in my mind. Beautiful capture and wish I were heading towards Massachusetts again soon. I have family and roots from Rockport, on Cape Ann. One of my favorite areas of the country! β€
Thank you, so much. Oh, Rockport is wonderful. I’ve not yet made it to Bearskin Neck yet this year but hope to before the cold sets in.
Very beautiful and the sky seems so pretty!!
Cheers!
Thank you, Soheir. This was one of my early morning shoots. Cheers!
What a lovely old building! If it could tell all the stories stored up inside it … π
It was actually not used very long for a church before the land was taken over by the state but I am sure there are still some good stories. Cheers!
Wonderful!
Thank you! Cheers!
It’s really a landmark … stands out so beautifully by itself.. surrounded by the beauty of the park..
great π for a picnic
It is really lovely. I wanted to also capture the reservoir behind it but could not get the right angle. Another time, perhaps. Cheers! Have a good night, Chris
You too.. are you in England…??
Nope, New Hampshire. And you?
Your “cheers” had me thinking π you might be.. It’s English..
I’m in Florida..
Sleep π΄ well…
I picked up the cheers from some Canadian acquaintances. Sweet dreams π€
