Roaming the city with my camera, I go down alleys and passageways that others miss. I followed this alley behind a couple of downtown hotels (the Nine Zero and the historic Parker House) to find this scene. The smoke, I believe, is from the Parker House’s laundry (or else from making their famous Boston Creme Pies).
Very nice capture!
Thank you so much, Hammad. Cheers!
At first I thought it was a funny looking tree and then I realized it was smoke. What a great composition.
Thank you, Teri. I waited forever for the breeze to die down and the smoke to come straight out like that…Cheers!
Worth the wait!
This photograph monochrome is giving it a look of that golden era of 80’s & 90’s. . . I can imagine a classic vintage car will be passing by soon. π
Thank you…I agree that it has that “vintage” look to it. I had to wait for a moment when no current model cars were passing. It really looks cool in BW. Cheers!
what a great shot! I’d like to think it’s from pies…..mmm-mmm, pie.
mmm-hmmm pie! Thanks, Lois!
Awesome picture, Chris! Love the b/w, the smoke and the little arch! Very lovely indeed π Cheers!
Thank you, Sarah. I’m fortunate that the arch is there because it helps to show the smoke. π Have a great day. Cheers! π
I adore this shot …. it captures my mindset in a frame – I can never resist looking round the corner, veering off down a tiny street or alleyway to search for mysterious goodies that I might otherwise miss. As for the smoke cascading out of that chimney on its side …. I do hope there IS smoke without fire!
Thank you, Osyth. I think chance favors the curious and love to check out alleys and such. So far, there have been no muggers or pitbulls. I think the steam is from the laundry – I hope so. =)
Nice. It has a raea Dickensian feel.
Thank you! Funny you should mention Dickens, one of the hotels fronting that alley claims he did a reading of A Christmas Carol there. His ambiance continues. Cheers!
Very creative – keep going off the main streets!
Thank you. Will do! Cheers!
fantastic capture, very atmospheric with that smoke… has a film noir feel about it π
Thank you, Alex. It was an interesting scene. Cheers! π
Love this picture!
