I made this image last weekend for a friend down in the Dominican Republic who had never seen a beaver lodge before. Here, you see them in just about any body of water. This one is a few miles from our house. I took his early in the morning hoping to see its occupant swimming around the pond. Unfortunately, while I got up early with my camera, he decided to sleep in.
Mother nature at its best.👌
Definitely. There is just something so cool about beaver lodges. Cheers 😃
noooooooooo LOL he/she had already gone to work
Perhaps. But I envision him/her is this lodge a comfy and sipping coffee. 😎
He or she is definitely sipping coffee – what else could he/she do?;) Wonderful shot, Chris!
I really like the reflection on the water, that´s something I want to try out someday with painting. Cheers!
Thank you, Sarah. The reflection seems to make the shot. Maybe I’ll go out again in search of him or her. Cheers!
OmG! I just discovered your sidebar! That´s soooo sweet of you, Chris!! Thank you so, so much 😀 I´m totally overwhelmed right now…
😊
I didn’t realize they built them in the middle of the water. Beautiful shot, Chris.
Thank you! Yes, having them out in the water keeps predators away. Cheers!
Great photo, love the leaning tree in the background and the reflections.
Thank you, Andy. This is a great spot and I go walking there often. Cheers!
Nice space mate. You’re well lucky. If I told you where I go for a walk you would laugh. Not many trees here
Thank you. I feel fortunate to live close to such a nice space and visit there multiple times a week. Cheer!
Oh ..this is soooo pretty!
Lucky you Chris!
Thanks!
Thank you, Soheir. This is one of my favorite places to go for walks. Have a great day. Cheers!
Have a great evening Chris!!
👍🏼
Wow! This is gorgeous, Christopher 🙂
Not only the beaver lodge, but all the scenery. I love how the trees are reflecting in the water’s mirror. I will tweet your post 😀
Oh, thank you, Monica. I am honored. The photo was a surprise. It was just meant to be an image of the lodge for my friend but it came out really well. Thanks again. Cheers! 😎
More than really well, Christopher 🙂
Thank you. There is an art show in September near here. It is all nature photos and paintings. I am thinking of entering this image.
Yes, yes… But not only this. You have more beautiful pictures. Those two below are worth, too. And you have more. Cheers

Oh, thank you. You’re right. Perhaps, I can enter more images. But for now it is the weekend! Yay!
Yaaaay! 😀
No work for me or school for you. I hope you have time to enjoy it! 😃
I enjoy every moment of freedom 🙂
Same here. 😊
Yupiiiii
😀
=)
You have all kinds of cool things to shoot around your street 😉
It is one wild street, Teri…Cheers!
Woo Hoo!
Stunning! I say enter it.
Thank you. Wouldn’t that just be amazing! 😊
Very cool!
I saw one in Michigan once, surprised by the sound of the beavers tails warning me not to come closer. They are fascinating to see. Amazing!
Yes, that is a very loud sound. It is quite the life and if reincarnation exists, returning as a beaver would be pretty good. A nice home, leisurely swims, some light carpentry. Cheers!
Yes, they looked pretty happy. And, I have to say, the sound of their tails scared me to death!!!
They are loud. Beavers and moose can get into a tussle about wanting the same underwater vegetation for food. Despite the size difference, their agility and what they can do with their tail usually makes the beaver the victor.
Really? It is surprising considering the size. But, I do have to say that I was far away in the woods when the sound of their tails scared the life out of me. I hiked until finding the den, and am so happy I did. What an amazing sight to see. Wouldn’t want to get to close to the ‘family,’ though! Great photographs, you have!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a beaver lodge either, so thanks for that. Her/his neighborhood is pretty upscale, I think.
Thank you…and you’re welcome. Beavers tend to get good surroundings. Cheers! =)
Such a lovely picture Chris, the reflections of the trees and the beautiful yellowy greens are just amazing. These beaver lodge reminds me of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe! 🙂
Thank you so much, Katie. I’ glad that you like them….Cheers!
this is the first time I see a beavers lodge too, wow… beautiful shot, Chris 🙂
Thank you, Alex. The way this came out was a happy surprise. It was only meant to share what a beaver lodge looked like with a friend. Cheers!
Yep! Thank you for the beaver lodge! I thought they built closer to the bank and certainly not so high with sticks. And they beat their tails when one gets to close? Wow! Learned two new wildlife facts tonight as I have gone about our blogging neighborhood!! As always, great photos!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful natural world! Blessings, denise
It has been nice to read people’s reactions to this photo. For many people, this was their first experience with a real beaver lodge. They are so common here that we take them for granted. Thank you and cheers!
