      NYC is so big the system gets really complicated and the stops can be far apart. This is in Downtown Crossing, near Macys. This is actually taken in a part of what used to be the old Filenes department store.

      I think we call it the T because of the symbol you see of the T. I’m not sure why the letter T was used. Maybe for “train” or in some cases “trolley”. It is usually a good system but it is old and has trouble in the winter sometimes. It was the first subway in the U.S. To ride the T you need a Charlie card…but that is another story. =)

        Thank you so much…The Metro and the T are almost the same age, so perhaps the name Metro was not famous yet. If it had been famous, Boston may have used it. Many things in Boston are copied from the French.

    I love street scenes bursting with stuff that draws my discursive eyes hither and thither so I love this picture. I have only been on the T once so far but I do love comparing metros …. I come from England so the London Tube is my default and not necessarily in a good way!
