These are some scenes from the musical part of the Lowell Folk Festival. Unfortunately, photos do not convey the music well, but as you can see, it is an international affair. My favorites were George (Super Chikan) Johnson and his band The Fighting Cocks, and the group Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba. We heard many more bands than the ones you see here, but this will give you a flavor of what we experienced.
The pictures convey the musicians enjoy and loosing themselves to the music so well ! Picture 2, 3, 4 are awesome 🙂
Thank you, Himali. Photos 3 & 4 were taken at a workshop in which various violin players got together to talk about their individual styles and play a bit for us. Cheers =)
That’s nice naa having workshops and discussions ! This is a nice platform 🙂
It is really cool because you can not only enjoy the music but also learn about it. I will say more about this tomorrow or Friday. 😉
That’s a learning experience. Will wait for tomorrow’s post eagerly 😇😇
Great images 🙂 Awesome quote of Rumi 🙂
Thank you. Yes, I loved seeing the Rumi quote. Cheers 😃
Someday I will get there…
It is worth attending. You could make it part of a New England vacation. Cheers. 😃
Wow Chris. Looks like you are having great fun listening to musical bands.
Rumi quotes are always inspiring!!
I am dancing to it.. 🙂
I wish I could share the sounds also, Jackie, but I did not make videos. Have a great day. Cheers 😃
Haha… It’s not a problem Chris. You have all the fun.. Have a lovely day.. 🙂
This looks like it was a fun event. Cool shots.
Great fun 🙂
They seem to be proffessional
Great shots Chris
The images are playing music
Have a great day 😀
Cheers
Yes, Soheir…It is great fun.
The people are professional musicians and they are invited from all around the world to play at this festival. Many are people who we have not heard of before but who are a big deal in their home country. It is so interesting to see their clothes and instruments and hear how they play.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard music from your country. Can you recommend someone, please and I will find them on YouTube. 😀
Cheers!
Thanks Chris
I will bring some links for you when I get them from google soon
I wish that you will like them
Wait for me please:-D
Cheers:-)
I shall wait patiently, Soheir…Thank you for looking for me. 😀

Youre welcome:-D
I don’t remember you doing many close-ups of people but these were a good opportunity. Well done!
I am trying more close-up and even asking some people if I can make a portrait. It is interesting and i am learning. Cheers =)
nice series of portraits, Chris!!.. the quote in the last pic is lovely 🙂
Thank you, Alex. I saw the quote and knew I had to work it into images from the weekend. Cheers 😃
those are some of my favourite
First thank you so much for going to the effort of finding these. I enjoyed them.
The Hamza Namira song has a pop sound to it but this is not a love song, like most pop songs. You were kind enough to give me a version with English translation. It seems to be about breaking out from some dogma or beliefs that entrap the singer. It is very powerful.
The second song did not have a translation and the title was written in Arabic but the song is lovely. He sings with great passion.
The last one (Mager Zain) is my favorite. There is a very upbeat and wholesome feel to the video. So many things are the same everywhere about people having a good time. I like to think we are more similar than different. The boy opening the cookie made me smile because I did this as a boy with Oreo cookies. 😃
Thank you so much for sharing these with me. 😊
You are most welcome Chris
Yes I agree with you we are alike in many aspects of life although our traditions are somehow different
Thanks a lot:-)
lol…After the other videos all being men, i was wondering if perhaps you only had male singing artists. No, Sherien is also a wonderful artist. On all of these I like the Eastern sound…It is difficult to describe but it just has a wonderfully exotic tone. Thank you again. Cheers =)
Hi Chris
Al fajr prayer now
Your comments are very smart
As a matter of fact ..we have many female singing artists in Egypt
In Egypt you can find different types of singers
But those I showed you are just my favourite ones
I am happy you liked the eastern sound
Thanks Chris
I wish you a happy Thursday
Cheers:-D
Hello Soheir
Thank you again…I really enjoyed hearing some of the different singers there and seeing the video.
I hope you have a happy Thursday also.
Cheers =)
