This sculpture in Boston’s Public Garden commemorates the cherished children’s book by Robert McCloskey. A few times, I’ve seen them wearing special hats. Presumably, these are bonnets from the recent Easter holiday. I made this photo and like it in both color and BW. The color shows the form well, but the color shows the warm light. Do you have a preference?
I like the color one.
Thank you…there is something nice about that one.
BW, I’m a sucker for vintage xD
children story books ❤

Yeah…vintage is so cool. I am shooting an an antique car show in the morning and very excited. Childrens story books…the meeting point of visual art and literature/poetry. =)
Cheers!
wohoooo, looking forward ^_^
Color 😉
Thank you…There is a nice palatte of colors in that shot. Cheers =)
I think the black and white helps to keep your eye on the ducks.
Great observation, Kate. The color of the other aspects of the shot does take away from the subject matter. Thanks & Cheers
This made me smile; I still have my kids’ book. Color for me.
Thank you, Lois. I’m glad you liked this. I really like children’s books, too. Cheers
I remember being there and taking some photographs but they didn’t have bonnets on. Really like the angle of this shot and prefer the monochrome.
The only other time that I’ve seen the ducklings with hats on was in 2004 after the Red Sox won the World Series. They were all wearing Red Sox ball caps. Thank you, I spent some time setting up this shot. Cheers =)
And you did a bang up job!
Color one because of its warmth.
It is a very warm light. I shot this in the morning, Thank you and Cheers.
In this instance I prefer the color, it is more in keeping with the whimsical nature of the sculptures.
Thank you Laurie….I am really torn but you’re right in that it does make it feel more light-hearted. Cheers.
😀
Happy to see the ducks still have their bonnets 🙂 great pictures!
Yes, I am not sure how long they get to wear them. Cheers =)
Yup

Ducks come forward
They are marching forward. Cheers =)
Just read this to my 3-year-old grandson for the first time. Amazing how well it holds up. (I like the B&W.)
Thank you….How nice to be sharing this story with a new generation. I worked in a Barnes and Noble while going to school and this was a favorite in the Children’s Book department. Cheers
